To fund our work, we seek to achieve a constant flow of independent income through a balance of traditional fundraising and trading activities.  Age UK offers a variety of products designed for those over 50, including home, travel and car insurance and funeral plans, as well as wills and legal services.  

We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual with excellent sales skills to supervise the trading team in order to generate commission from the sale of products and services. To comply with trading regulation, you will be required to successfully complete ongoing training and assessments. Knowledge and experience of insurance business would be an advantage.

Main Responsibilities:

 Introduce Age UK Products and Services to customers and be able to close the sale

Adhere to the Age UK Enterprises regulated product sales process

Accurately complete all administration and documentation in accordance with the Age UK Enterprises procedures and service standards.

Abide by the Codes of Conduct, rules and guidelines as issued by Age UK Enterprises

Provide product information to customers to enable them to make an informed choice

Monitor arranger’s consistent adherence to the Age UK enterprises regulated sales process ensuring that they act within their limits of authority at all times

Analyse and interpret management information and forward necessary information to your line manager.

Undertake personal development as agreed between the role holder and Line Manager

i.              Organising Induction for new entrants.

ii.             Training and coaching new entrants and existing individuals.

iii.            Monitoring the ongoing competence of new entrants and existing individuals      

This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

Essential Criteria

•             Excellent sales skills.

•             Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

•             Previous experience of working with the general public.

•             Able to manage a sales team and meet targets.

•             Handling cash and banking.

•             Knowledge of IT Sales platform.

•             Knowledge of insurance business would be an advantage.

•             Willingness to accept training courses involving the duties of the post.

•             An understanding of the needs and aspirations of older people.

•             A knowledge of Data Protection and Data Security requirements.

The selling of insurance is a fundamental requirement of this post and such activity is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).  The postholder will be required to undertake and successfully complete appropriate training to enable AUKS to comply with the FCA regulation as laid down by Age UK Enterprises Ltd.  The continued employment of the postholder will be dependent on the postholder remaining suitably qualified (by FCA regulation) to sell insurance and AUKS cannot undertake to retain staff who do not remain so qualified.
