The client is a market leading retail banking company who are currently looking to recruit a new Head of Compliance to take ownership for Group compliance activities. The successful candidate will join the team based in Kent and will be working closely with the CEO who will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the group compliance function and providing direction and leadership for a broad variety of regulatory, planning and internal compliance standards. Key responsibilities for this role will cover:

* Working closely with the CEO, managing the Compliance Team to ensure fit for purpose systems, processes and procedures are embedded into the business that enable the bank to meet its regulatory obligations across its product portfolio.
* Effective management of the various compliance teams ensuring high performance standards and achievement of team objectives
* Contribute to the development and implementation of business growth strategy by leading and managing projects and programmes of work relevant to effective and efficient management of a compliance function consistent with business objectives
* Ensuring that the business maintains a robust compliance framework, including Conduct Risk, and reviews this on a regular basis initiating appropriate interventions where necessary
* Identifying, assessing, advising, monitoring and compiling reports on the bank's compliance and conduct risk, both forward looking and backward looking for the Board and Executive
* Providing a professional and effective compliance monitoring function, which meets regulatory requirements
* Line manage and coach all direct reports including all aspects of performance management, development, conduct, sickness management, appraisals, employee administration etc
* Fostering alliances with key areas of the business to embed compliance policies, processes and procedures into the business
* Undertake all duties and responsibilities as the designated Fraud Officer and Deputy Money Laundering Officer

Essential background and abilities required:

- Minimum 8 years compliance experience gained from a leading retail bank or financial services institution
- Minimum 2 years management experience
- Detailed knowledge of FCA and PRA handbooks and their application in practice is essential
