The Asset Strategy and Integrity team are the custodians of our assets; with over 2,500 above ground assets ranging from offtakes to district governors and 37,000km of pipelines including 1,200km of high pressure pipelines to oversee. It's a role where variety is assured, along with enjoying a wide range of responsibilities. Applicants should be able to demonstrate strong working knowledge across a range of key areas - from engineering policies and standards, through to safety management systems and risk assessment techniques.
As part of the team you will have a major influence on the work undertaken on assets and work closely with Programme Investment to ensure strategies and Capital Investment Programmes are delivered. Effective communication skills are essential to maintain positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be required to:
Compliance:
- Act as point of contact for compliance queries, assessing additions or changes to existing legislation and make recommendations with regard to their impact on Network policies and activities
- Support the Integrity Engineer with the internal audit process of maintenance and validation of Gas Quality systems (HP Metering, CV Measurement & Odorisation)
- Manage and update asset data bases including HPMIS
- Liaise with Operations staff and IT support functions to resolve technical issues
Strategy:
- Understand and interpret the condition of the companies' assets to develop strategies that optimise asset Investment and capital project delivery.
- Effectively manage risk to ensure the long term reliability of NGN assets.
- Liaise with NGN's delivery teams and other stakeholders to ensure Asset upgrade programmes are being met.
- Ensure that outputs are being delivered efficiently and reported accurately.
- Support the Innovative funding process by identification of potential projects and budget management
Policy and regulation
- Review, assess and update engineering documents.
- Represent the Network on Industry Workgroups that influence Policy decisions alongside external bodies such as Ofgem, Joint Office and IGEM.
- Provide data, prepare reports and compile procedures to facilitate regulatory reporting aligned to NGN Outputs.
- Manage and provide asset data to deliver Safety and Compliance across the Network including input into Asset Health indices matrix.
Skills & Qualifications Required (desirable or essential):
Essential Criteria
- Logical thinker, with excellent problem solving and analytical skills
- Proactive attitude; strong team player, whilst also having the ability to work on their own initiative
- Experienced user of Microsoft Office applications (SAP would be an advantage)
- Excellent team working, customer orientation and communication skills covering verbal, written and numerical ability
- Educated to BTEC or HNC Level
- Be conversant with above and below ground Assets
- Maintain an up to date Knowledge and understanding of technological advances which may benefit NGN's Assets.
- Demonstrate budget & financial management.
- The candidate should ideally have a number of year's operational or project management experience.
- Hold a full UK driving licence.
Desirable Criteria
- Have a good understanding of Legislative requirements & documentation including G(COTER), GSMR, Uniform Network Code and the Network's policies and procedure which underpin them.
- Knowledge of gas network
- Educated to a degree level or HND, preferably in a technical discipline
- Preferably have working knowledge of codes of practice, engineering instructions and safety requirements
- Membership of IGEM or equivalent engineering establishment would be an advantage.
- Have practical experience working in various disciplines within the industry.

- Fixed Term Contract - 14 Months
- £34,000 - £38,000 per annum dependent upon experience
- Up to 10% annual bonus
