Use your technical skills as Fleet Engineer to oversee an annual £1m+ spend on MHE across four main sites for Howdens, the UK market leader in Kitchens.

As Fleet Engineer – MHE, your overarching responsibility will be to provide technical support from Manufacturing through to Logistics on all MHE, whilst ensuring compliance with legalisation and company standards. Reporting to our Fleet Manager in this standalone role, you’ll oversee the activities of three main contractors, plus sub-contractors, and an annual £1m+ spend on MHE across four main sites, in addition to any outlying warehousing. Using your expertise and ability to deliver technical improvements, you’ll be expected to deliver substantial value to Howden’s Supply. Key deliverables as Fleet Engineer – MHE include:
• controlling and reducing contractor spend in areas of damage
• ensuring value for money via invoice-matching and analysis of spend by supplier
• advising the Operations Team on MHE specification options and leading projects to reduce equipment requirements
• assisting operations in managing preventive maintenance schedules ensuring all related documentation is available
• keeping up-to-date with all aspects of MHE legislation.
With a recognised MHE technical qualification at supervisory level or above, you must have a proven technical track record encompassing experience of damage reduction and control of maintenance costs. Familiar with KPI management, you’ll also need experience of working with external bodies and understanding their requirements. Strong on organisation and communication, and with budgetary experience, you’re also skilled at leadership and cultural/organisational awareness, in addition to possessing:
• well-developed people management and relationship skills
• excellent decision-making capability.
