My client is looking for a clinical coding auditor to join their team. This is a home based role involving travel across England with overnight stays approximately every other week, so being flexible on travel will be required. The main element to this role will be to lead and undertake clinical coding audits in line with NHS clinical classification service audit methodology and code of conduct. In addition, the individual will undertake remote coding at home. Candidates will need to be a qualified HSCIC Registered Clinical Coding Auditor and be an ACC - Accredited Clinical Coder to be fully considered for this position.
What you will do:
- To lead and undertake clinical coding audits in line with the NHS Clinical Classification Service audit methodology and code of conduct
- Work with clients both in the NHS and private sector by undertaking regular complex audits of clinically coded data to assess coding quality for accuracy, completeness, consistency and timeliness
- To support clients in the development of audit programmes to ensure ongoing improvements in their quality assurance for both the organisation and their commissioners
- Have a pro-active and positive approach when working with clients to identify areas where further work may be required, for example training or more specialised audit.
- Produce high quality and precise reports following all audits in a timely way
- Undertake reviews within NHS Mental Health Trusts
- To undertake clinical coding for clients as required.
- To assist staff with projects relating to clinical coding or audit.
- To act as an ambassador by providing a professional coding and auditing service
- To promote as an expert and professional coding services provider and recognise potential opportunities to work further with clients.
Essential Experience
- HSCIC Registered Clinical Coding Auditor
- ACC - Accredited Clinical Coder
- Experience of delivering IG and other coding audits to high quality and tight deadlines
- Good knowledge of national payment tariff, HRGs and the impact of clinical coding on payment
- Good presentation and report writing skills
- Excellent client management skills
- Ability to network effectively with peers
- Knowledge of Data Protection, Information Governance and Patient Confidentiality requirements
