Personal Assistant / Carer

A lady wheelchair user (aged 51) is looking for a Personal Assistant/carer to work 12 hours per week in the L3 area (Liverpool Docks). Starting mid to late November 2016.

Pay - weekday £7.20 per hour, weekend £7.50 per hour (double bank holidays).
Must be able to drive and aged over 25.

Summary of Duties

  • To support the client to maintain her home and live independently
  • To enable the client to engage within the local community

Hours

  • Usually Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday between 9.00am-1.00pm
  • Days may be negotiable
  • Varying and/or additional hours may be needed

Assistance To Include

  • Driving
  • Practical help, e.g. with balance, standing from sitting, opening doors, assisting putting wheelchair in to car, etc
  • Social care
  • No personal care

Duties

  • Maintaining The Home 
  • Clean kitchen
  • Washing up, sorting dishwasher
  • Dispose of rubbish
  • Food preparation 
  • Sorting washing
  • Ironing
  • Clean bathroom
  • Vacuuming
  • Change the bed
  • Dusting and polishing
  • Other house-hold tasks

Community Engagment Outside The Home 

  • Attend appointments eg hospital, GP, dentist
  • Shopping 
  • Community engagement
  • Visit friends and family
  • Visit places of interest – eg gardens, historic buildings, workshops, creative courses

Skills And Education

  • Full clean UK driving licence, with no accidents in the last 5 years
  • Able to drive client’s car (automatic transmission, wheelchair accessible)
  • Over 25 years of age (for car insurance purposes)
  • Clean Police record
  • Caring and friendly
  • Experience of caring for another person 
  • Experience of looking after a home
  • Willingness to be flexible
  • Must be punctual, reliable, and conscientious
