Citizens Advice Luton Volunteers Wanted Citizens Advice Luton is a registered charity and we rely on specially trained volunteers to help us to provide vital advice and support services to the people of our town. We are currently recruiting volunteers for two important roles:
VOLUNTEER ASSESSORS
Citizens Advice Luton is also looking for volunteers to join its busy Gateway Service, which is helping growing numbers of people in need.
Volunteer Gateway Assessors provide a 'diagnostic' or 'triage' interview, face to face or on the telephone, to everyone asking Citizens Advice for help so they can be advised on the best course of action to resolve their problems. The main enquiry areas are benefits, debt, employment, housing and relationship issues.
Successful applicants will be given full training in Gateway interviewing - so you don't need any previous qualifications or experience. You just need to be able to communicate clearly and provide information to people in an easy to understand way.
For both roles you should have good computer skills and the ability to research information from our on-line resources.
You must also be open-minded, non-judgmental, be able to listen, learn, work in a team and have a good standard of literacy.
We ask our volunteers to commit to us for at least a year, and have at least one full day (7 hours) a week to spare, Monday to Friday.
