We have an exciting opportunity at St Edmundsbury Borough Council for Car Park Attendants to join our team based in Bury St Edmunds, but will involve travelling between sites in the borough. The successful candidates will join us on a full time basis working 37 hours per week and we have both a permanent and temporary 12 month contract available. As our Car Park Attendant you will receive a competitive salary of £15,507 per annum (£8.04 per hour).
About the Car Park Attendant role
St Edmundsbury Borough Council is looking for reliable, trustworthy people with experience and proven skills in working with the public to assist in the delivery of parking services. The roles are mainly based in Bury St Edmunds, but will involve travelling between sites in the borough, for which a vehicle will be provided. You will use handheld IT equipment to issue parking fines and be involved in the collection and handling of cash, which will involve heavy lifting. You must be confident with lone working duties both at night and during the day.
What we’re looking for in our Car Park Attendant
You will have direct contact with the general public which would suit people with a customer service background. The roles involve direct traffic management and patrolling duties and you will need to demonstrate initiative and the ability to work under pressure. These posts involve walking between 5-7 miles daily and also involve weekend working and evening work, so you must have a flexible approach to working hours and locations. Shifts and working patterns are not fixed and will vary according to service and seasonal demand
As our Car Park Attendant we will provide you with uniform and protective clothing as you will be working outdoors in all weathers. You must have a full manual driving licence.
