The Grameen Bank is the institution that pioneered microcredit for the poor, beginning as an action research project in 1976.  It has now become the world's largest bank that caters exclusively to the financial needs for the poor.  The Grameen Bank approach, with its poverty alleviation focus using a well-designed and widely tested methodology, has now been successfully replicated in more than 40 countries around the world.


The objective of the Grameen Scotland Foundation - trading as Grameen in the UK - is to offer access to business funding for those who are currently not served by any financial services. The goal is to improve the economic situation of those most in need, initially in the West of Scotland, with the longer-term objective being to create and operate a sustainable microcredit program that reaches increasing numbers of families across the UK.


To support the growth and development of this exciting programme we are currently recruiting for an Operations Manager;


The role will appeal to somebody with the drive and ambition to create a great force for good. Somebody that is a highly capable and confident communicator who can engage with a wide range of stakeholders. A person with vision and a passion for making a difference.

-               Educated to degree level or with an equivalent professional qualification (MCIBS, CA),

-               Has a sound track record in a financial services operational management role, with experience in the development of high performing teams being essential,

-               Experience and knowledge of micro-credit principles and methodology is desirable but not essential,

-               A highly capable and confident communicator.
