On starting the new academic year, my client academy in East Birmingham has realised the need for two high calibre graduates to join them as coaches/Teaching Assistants in their Maths and English department and as cover supervisors. This role is ideally suited to graduates with good degrees in Mathematics from, ideally, a leading university.

This learning establishment is a faith school in Birmingham, rated 'Good' by Ofsted with a slightly smaller than average number of pupils. The school has its own 6th form allowing pupils to continue their education at A level standard. The school's aim is to support the development of young people who respect themselves, others and the world in which they live. They are focused on providing challenging and exciting learning opportunities which will stand them in good stead for their future careers.

The school are wishing to recruit graduates that are both academically gifted as well as having the personality and nature that pupils will respond positively to. Working with pupils in the school's Mathematics department the main focus will be supporting at GCSE level, especially those pupils who are on the C/D borderline and need that extra input to achieve the desired grade.

The other small part of the role is working as a cover supervisor where you are likely to be used for short-term absences of a teacher. These might be known in advance (for example, where a teacher has a medical appointment or is undergoing professional development) or unexpected (for example, absence due to illness.

On a daily basis, cover supervision is more than likely to include:
•Supervising work that has been set in accordance with the school policy
•Managing the behavior of pupils whilst they are undertaking this work to ensure a constructive environment;
•Responding to any questions from pupils about process and procedures;
•Dealing with any immediate problems or emergencies according to the school's policies and procedures;
•Collecting any completed work after the lesson and returning it to the appropriate teacher
•Reporting back as appropriate using the school's agreed referral procedures on the behavior of pupils during the class, and any issues arising.

The combination of these roles will provide many of the skills necessary as you embark on your future career as a teacher. This is a fantastic school with a dynamic senior leadership team that are focused on continual improvement for the school.

If you have the necessary academic back ground and are committed to a future in Education then please email a copy of your CV to Patrick at Edustaff
