Communication in the field is absolutely essential to our success. And as a full-time Communication Engineer we'll train you to look after our networks and technology to make sure it is uninterrupted. Working alongside all areas of the Army, you'll be there to repair and manage digital systems, satellites, computer networks and terminals. You'll also become an expert in all kinds of software. It's an important role with a lot of responsibility from the start, but we will support you along the way, even paying for you to get your degree level qualifications. You'll do all this whilst travelling the world and making life-long friends along the way.
BECOME A BETTER YOU
You'll learn the advanced computing skills you need to set up, operate and repair communication networks across all our missions. Together with your Royal Signals team, you'll also help create and manage digital exchanges, video links and networks to ensure flawless connections for your colleagues in the field. You'll learn to use software from leading companies and configure Internet networks along with working the ins-and-outs of Cisco routers, VoIP, fibre optics and databases. What you'll learn will set you up for whatever career journey you choose; whether in the Army or the civilian world.
WORLD-CLASS TRAINING
Basic training will teach you soldier skills, like how to survive outdoors and fire weapons. The training will also develop your fitness before you study to become a specialist at the Royal School of Signals. You'll learn how to set up and repair digital communication systems, study ultra-high frequency radio and become an expert in the use of satellite technology. Finish Phase 2 training and you'll take on a lot of early responsibility, as you'll be immediately promoted to Lance Corporal.
