Opportunity to join a leading UK business in this new role as the Head of Finance Operations. This position is part of the senior management team and will require a strong people person who is able to manage multiple teams in a complex accounting environment. The key elements of this role include; taking the lead role in the continuous development and improvement of finance related systems, processes and controls; managing the Group's internal audit programme; holding full responsibility for all aspects of the Accounts payable, Accounts receivable and Payroll departments as well as two other business specific areas.

Main responsibilities
* Focus on development of finance related systems, processes and controls appropriate to the Group's strategy. Development of P2P systems and to be involved in the Group's procurement strategy and the establishment of systems and process to control and manage the supplier base
* Responsibility for all aspects of continuous improvement of finance related systems, processes and controls focused on providing increased automation, reducing low value add processes and improving efficiency
* Assessment and monitoring of controls operating in the key financial risk areas
* Manage the Group's internal audit function. Liaise with the external provider, to arrange the audits, to obtain and challenge internal responses to recommendations
* Responsibility for the day-to-day running of the AP, AR and Payroll functions
* To play a key role within Finance to support the wider team and to be an effective member of the Finance Leadership Team
* Line management of all relevant staff

Skills and Experience
* Qualified accountant - either ACA, ACCA or CIMA
* Demonstrable experience of designing and leading significant system and process development in an organisation of an equivalent size
* Able to act as the main day-to-day contact with the external audit provider
* Significant experience of managing the process of documenting finance systems, updating systems and training staff in the use of those systems
* Prior experience of managing both AP and AR is desirable
* Prior experience of involvement in procurement and the establishment of controls around approved suppliers, supplier terms and conditions is desirable
* Excellent communicator, both oral and written. Able to communicate effectively at all levels, both up and down within the organisation and with external professionals
* Team player with a proven track record of developing and improving staff
* Strong time management skills with an ability to prioritise work and delegate effectively
* Able to write high quality reports and to present ideas and proposals effectively to senior management
