Job Description:

  • Analysis of current and future iron ore and freight supply and demand fundamentals with a focus on the Asian iron ore and steel market
  • Automating analytical processes
  • Specific building, enhancing and management of models within iron ore, steel and freight markets, in order to track flows between global markets
  • Produce trade strategies
  • Collate and model short term fundamental data relevant to the global Iron Ore and Freight market (focusing on Asia) whilst supporting the dry bulks team with ad hoc analysis and relevant trading strategies

 

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • Have an existing Iron Ore / Steel mill contact network in Asia
  • Produced tradeable ideas that have been traded on; SHFE, DCE and SGX.
  • Recent, proven track record of producing complex supply & demand balances to management and board- level
  • Strong IT skills, ideally possesses modeling skills within Python and/or VBA, Matlab
  • An understanding of steel mill operations in Asia (specifically China, Japan and Korea)
  • Must have recent experience working for a physical company within Iron Ore and Freight
  • Strong analytical background with experience in fundamental analysis of Iron Ore and Freight products markets
  • Undergraduate degree in Economics, Finance, Business or Mathematics 
  • Masters, Doctorate or MBA in same field, a plus
