Our client is a large, and growing, specialist land-based College, with centres throughout Yorkshire, Cumbria and the Tees Valley.
Their curriculum is innovative and flexible providing graduates with a stimulating and enjoyable experience. Personal development and employability are a key focuses within the College’s higher education provision.
Their higher education provision has expanded significantly over the last three years, with an enrolment of over 750 HE students expected in September. As a consequence of this, the College is seeking to appoint a number of Learning Support Practitioners to join them on a casual, term time only basis.
Successful candidates will provide a high quality, pro-active learning support service which enables students to progress to a higher level of study and work towards achieving English and Mathematics GCSE grades A* - C; developing their independent personal learning and thinking skills in preparation for adult life and employment.
You must work with, and assist, lecturing staff in the planning and delivery of sessions, facilitate student integration into mainstream learning and enrichment activities and provide assistance, support and (where necessary) meet possible care needs at break and meal times.
With experience of supporting students in a range of settings including students with learning difficulties and disabilities, you will have knowledge of strategies used to engage and enable students to progress to a higher level of study than their prior attainment and an effective working knowledge of ICT and Information and Learning Technology.
A Bachelor’s Degree (or Foundation Degree) in either Working with Children and Young People or Supporting Learning or a level 3 qualification in Supporting Learning would be beneficial but not essential.
