Reports to:  Deputy Chief Executive

Job Purpose:

Support the Deputy Chief Executive, Chief Executive and other colleagues in developing and delivering marketing and online resources activities for Cumbria Business Growth Hub and the Chamber, including initiatives such as the ERDF Growth Hub project, LEP growth hub service, FEDF Coastal Communities Supply Chain Initiative and others.


Principal Accountabilities:

• Working with the Chief Executive and Deputy Chief Executive to develop and implement effective marketing campaigns and an effective digital marketing and business support delivery strategy

• Developing, producing and circulating a range of regular e-comms and e-newsletters

• Maintaining websites, working with web developers, colleagues and other subcontractors to ensure the web portal, websites and other online activities deliver optimal customer conversion and lead generation, from on and offline response channels and support delivery requirements

• Applying the principles of best practice in SEM and SEO to all web content

• Acting as a bridge between the web developers and colleagues/partners

• Developing, promoting and ensuring usage of relevant web content and multimedia assets

• Helping partners maintain access to and make best use of the portal and e-communications, including specifying and explaining technical and branding requirements

• Proactively engaging businesses in online forums and driving forum activity, working with colleagues

• Implementing social media campaigns, working with advisers and other members of the team

• Using analytics to report on the effectiveness of digital activity, including tracking conversion rates and making relevant improvements to digital channels

• Working with the Chief Executive, Deputy Chief Executive and relevant subcontractors to review new technologies and keep activities at the forefront of developments in digital marketing and delivery

• Developing, producing and circulating media releases and liaising with the media

• Maintaining press logs and press cutting files plus publicity evidence files

• Working with colleagues to develop and produce other relevant on and offline promotional and delivery resources such as leaflets, flyers, case studies, stands, magazine, e-shots, etc.

• Ensuring consistency in tone of voice & application of branding guidelines across all communications

• Branding control and approval of promotion materials internally and across partners, working with CLG and other funders as required

• Providing support to colleagues and subcontractors with contact development responsibilities and making recommendations for ongoing improvements to systems and processes

• Maintenance of effective project records & reporting in relation to marketing and online engagement

• Working with the Chief Executive to develop the case for private sector funding for relevant activities and to help secure that funding

• Any other activities as required

Planning and Organising:

• Planning and organising marketing, communications and events delivery activities, working with colleagues as appropriate

Decision Making:

• Day-to-day decision making with regard to the job role within the guidelines and ethos of the organisation

• Supporting the recording, presentation and analysis of project documentation and information

• Arranging marketing, communications and events delivery activities as agreed with the Deputy Chief Executive

Internal and External Relationships:

• Stakeholder management

• Developing and maintaining an effective day to day working relationship with the rest of the Chamber team including MIC

• Working with the rest of the Chamber team (including MIC) to promote activities

• Maintaining good relationships with member businesses, clients and with wider partners and developing good relationships with potential members and clients

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Needed:

• Robust, straightforward, target focussed, enthusiastic and self-motivated

• Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of partners

• Graduate or relevant experience equating to graduate capabilities

• Good analytical skills, proven administration and IT competencies

• Self-confident, quick learner with potential for further development

• Strong project administration and coordination skills and experience

• Marketing and promotions capability and experience

• Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills

• Strong track record of delivery against targets in a challenging commercial environment

• Excellent knowledge and confident user of web content management systems

• Knowledge and experience of effective writing for on and offline, with proven ability to write engaging content

• Understanding of the principles of web usability and accessibility and practical knowledge of their application

• Understanding of best practice in information architecture, content structure and effective navigation
