About us

At Bath Spa University we work with one clear vision: to be a leading university in creativity, culture and enterprise. And as the fifth largest employer in Bath and North East Somerset, we're really bringing our local talent out on a global scale. And with ever growing student numbers, it's important for an expansion in our infrastructure and cherished buildings and landscapes. Transforming the lives of our socially engaged global students starts with making sure that our people, people like you, are engaged, empowered and feel valued for the hard work they do. And that's where you come in.

Library & Learning Services support teaching, learning and research throughout the University, in collaboration with staff and students. We provide information resources in a range of formats, environments that facilitate study and learning in a variety of ways, and support for the development of information literacy to enable students to make the best use of learning resources.

About the role

The Library team is committed to developing its digital services, from which the University's staff and students currently make approximately half a million downloads per year. Based at Newton Park Library, your role will be to assist the Digital Services Librarian in the maintenance and development of these services, including the Library Services Platform, the digitisation of content, web pages, databases and search engines. You will act as a first point of contact for e-resource and copyright issues. Alongside this you will provide high quality front-line library services to our customers.

About you (requirements)

You'll be enthusiastic and committed to providing a high quality, customer focused service to our staff and students. With GCSEs Grade C or above in Maths and English, or equivalent, you'll be used to dealing with the public and other organisations. Excellent IT skills are a must. With on-the-job training, you should have an ability to learn new applications and systems, understanding their interoperability and appreciating how customers use them in practice. Self-motivated and able to work well within a team, you'll welcome change as our service responds to new opportunities.

We're an Investor in People, and the Library has been commended for its commitment to staff development activities.
