About the role
This post is based within Student Services and will deal with all aspects of student administration, with a specific focus on timetabling matters. Timetabling duties will include daily use of the timetabling system to check, process and amend bookings, as well as regular interaction with the main student database and the automated student information desk. The post will respond to timetabling queries and related correspondence, assisting students, professional services colleagues and academics across the University.
In addition to assisting with the daily timetabling processes and tasks for the whole University, the role will also incorporate involvement with wider timetabling project work and forms an integral part of the timetabling team. The post is first point of contact for all timetabling and room booking enquiries and is responsible for the maintenance and updating of our room catalogue.
Student Services is one of the central departments within the University and has responsibility for all applicant and student administration. As a part of the Student Services team this role can be highly demanding at peak times during the academic year, but provides an excellent opportunity to experience Higher Education administration.
Along with all staff within the department, this post will also play a part in the main events of the student cycle such as examinations, confirmation and clearing and Graduation, meaning that the post holder will be at the hub of student related activity throughout the year. As part of the timetabling team the post will also play a vital role during Registration when timetables are finalised and published to students.
About you (requirements)
We are looking for a bright, enthusiastic and flexible individual, who would like to begin or continue their administrative career in Higher Education. Experience of timetabling and timetabling systems would be highly advantageous, but a good level of demonstrable IT skills, an attention to detail and a willingness to learn are of equal importance to this role. You will be a strong team player who is comfortable working within a busy and varied department and will be eager to develop both yourself and the role.
Educated to A-Level standard (or equivalent), the right candidate will have strong customer service skills and will be approachable and friendly to students and colleagues alike. You will have previous work experience to draw upon, ideally within an office environment, and will be able to maintain very high standards of accuracy in your work, even when dealing with large and often complex sets of data and information.
