The Company
IntaPeople are proud to partner up with a leading pesticide manufacturer in the West Midlands as we seek to recruit a Formulation Chemist. This will be a brilliant chance to develop your career as you work autonomously in a lab reporting directly to the site director.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the formulation development of pesticides, principally insecticides, and providing support and improvement of existing products.
The Role
Formulation Development - You will be responsible for formulation design and coordination of development projects from concept to commercial manufacture against a User Requirement Specification or from Blue Sky thinking. You will be expected to select, evaluate and test the efficiency of co-formulants used in projects paying particular attention to the hazard classification of components to ensure the final formulation has a regulatory and commercially acceptable product classification.
You may be required to act as technical lead for projects and offer guidance and trouble shoot throughout the product cycle.
You will be expected to write assessments and development reports to document the formulation development process.
Initial Development Studies - You will be expected to monitor the physical parameters of proposed formulations in order to assess their suitability to be progressed.
Support for Existing Products - You will be expected to evaluate possible changes in co-formulants to improve formulation stability, hazard classification and cost and to investigate current commercial product issues.
Technology Transfer - You will be expected to assist in the transfer of formulations from the lab into pilot and commercial production processes as required.
Data Handling - You will use computer software programmes for the collection, processing and reporting of data.
Day to Day Running of the Laboratory - You will be responsible for all day to day tasks in the formulation laboratory including maintaining a clean, tidy and safe facility and writing/reviewing procedures and other relevant documents.
The Candidate
Experience in a formulation role working with pesticides.
A good knowledge of the manufacturing process and production improvements with previous experience of technology transfer from the laboratory to full scale production.
Be experienced in managing projects from concept to completion, working within a multi-disciplinary team with an analytical and methodical approach to projects.
Have enough confidence in your own abilities to enable you to work creatively, generate new ideas, reduce costs and develop new products.
Be self-motivated and able to work autonomously.
An ability to use HPLC equipment advantageous.
Excellent communication skills.
