Senior ICT Technician - Full Time All Year Round

We are looking to appoint an experienced ICT Technician into this more senior role following the recent promotion of the previous postholder to Network Manager in another school.

The position would be ideal if you have a similar ambition and you are ready to take the next steps in to a more senior role in order to further develop your skills, knowledge and expertise. It is important to us that you have mastered the role of Technician so that you are able to approach the post of Senior Technician with confidence. Experience of working in a secondary school or other large organisation would be an advantage.

Our current team of Network Manager and ICT Technician are established and rely on this role to deputise and support the professional and extensive ICT function at St James’s. Personal skills are also important to us and you will be a good communicator, have a positive approach to problem solving and be able to work both independently and as part of a team.

As an outstanding school (Ofsted 2011) we constantly strive to keep abreast of initiatives which will promote excellence in teaching, learning and management within the school. To achieve this we invest heavily in developing our ICT infrastructure and rely on the team of professional and dedicated technicians to ensure its effective and secure deployment.

We currently have a primarily Windows environment utilising a fully virtualised server infrastructure using VMware. The school network consists of 21 servers; 6 Physical (ESX Hosts) and 18 Virtual (through VMware) running Windows Server 2008 R2. We Offer Remote desktop services and we are currently using Office 365. We also have a Mac server and a suite of IMACS. We currently support over 550 computers a mixture of Workstations, Laptops and Web Books plus IPODS, IPADS , Learnpads and Kindles.

In order to ensure an up to date knowledge of our ever changing ICT provision we will offer the successful candidate a comprehensive CPD programme to support their development.

Please be aware as this is a school appointment you will be expected to take some of your annual leave in the school holidays; however we do permit time off in school term time depending on the needs of the service.
