Production Area Supervisor
Oxford, Oxfordshire
£Excellent Plus Pension, Generous Holiday, BMW Car Scheme (after 6 months)

BMW Group Plant Oxford is the birthplace and heart of MINI production. An Oxford landmark with 100 years’ of automotive manufacturing history, more than 3 million cars were produced there since the production of MINI began in 2001.

Home to more than 4,000 BMW associates, BMW Group Plant Oxford incorporates cutting edge car-making technology. Quality premium products are an outcome of efficient processes combined with highly motivated employees. The basis for this is an excellent leadership culture that results in an outstanding team spirit. It is important to us that each and every person is proud of their achievements and identifies with their job and their team. Take the lead and take on responsibility in our production environment.

As a Production Area Supervisor, you’ll utilise specialist process knowledge and exceptional leadership skills to efficiently manage, motivate and coach your team of Associates. You’ll plan and utilise manpower on a daily basis - managing team absence, flexible working time and annual leave to ensure no disruption to production. You’ll hold responsibility for managing the team through appraisal and development activities – as well as steering disciplinary situations to an appropriate conclusion. In line with group processes and procedures, you’ll have the opportunity to directly influence Assembly targets and key performance indicators - such as quality, volume, cost, absence, right first time and a value-added production system. You will identify and communicate issues within your area, conduct root cause analysis to determine long and short term solutions and negotiate where required with other Assembly colleagues and the Quality and Engineering function.

You will work Monday to Friday, rotating weekly between a morning, afternoon and night shift - with Friday night shifts being subject to business requirements. In return you will receive a competitive salary, 5.2 weeks’ annual leave, the opportunity to join the company car and defined contribution pension schemes - and will also have the opportunity to annually attain both a company and personal bonus.

You should be:
- Technically competent, with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes
- Familiar with production targets and key performance indicators, such as such as quality, volume, productivity, cost, absence, right first time and a value-added production system
- Experienced in co-ordinating, leading, motivating and coaching a sizable team of direct reports to deliver exceptional results
- A strong communicator, with the ability to manage customer relationships and deliver clear, concise and convincing information at all levels
- Aware of Health and Safety processes and procedures
- Competent in all Microsoft Office applications, with the ability to swiftly understand bespoke systems
- Prepared to work flexibly, with extended working hours on occasion as required

Whilst not essential, a recognised HNC (or equivalent) qualification would be desirable.
