A position for a family outreach worker has arisen at a Children Centre in the Adel area of Leeds.

We are looking forward to appointing an innovative, enthusiastic professional to join the dynamic Children's Centre team on the grounds of a popular primary school, starting as soon as possible.


The position is 30 hours a week on a 6 month temporary contract.

Some main responsibilities:

To engage with parents of young children in the locality in a respectful and responsive way.
To encourage their engagement in Childcare/Early Education and group activities.
To work as part of a multi agency team to promote cohesive services for families.
To work in centres, groups or other venues within the locality to promote the opportunities for children and families in Sure Start Children's Centres.
To assist in the evaluation of services used and ensure that support is given to families within agreed timescales.
To work alongside families with a range of focused services that will support parents with young children.
To make parents feel at ease and welcome in any group or centre at any time encouraging participation and discussion.
To home visit and to support and encourage parents to access the range of services for families with young children in the locality. To be responsive to parental wants and needs and respectful of parental involvement in their child's development.
To hold a caseload, working with families with children aged 0 to 5 years.
To work in an outreach capacity, sometimes working door to door and maintaining a regular presence at the various community meeting places including post office queues, baby clinic etc.
To work in a professional manner at all times being aware of the need for self control.
To disseminate good practice in community based childcare and support students or visitors from a range of agencies.
To attend staff meetings, parents meetings and attend training sessions.
To be a reflective practitioner who seeks to improve and extend their knowledge and take an active interest in new developments in child care.
