Are you a School Business Manager looking for a new challenge and the opportunity to progress in your career?

Randstad Education are currently recruiting a permanent School Business Manager job for a school based in the Blackburn area. This is a permanent role to start ASAP, interviews to be held in the first week of October.

This role of School Business Manager involves you being responsible for financial and administration management , HR, facilities & property and health & safety management. You will also be the school's leading support staff professional and works as part of the senior team to assist the Head Teacher and the school in meeting its educational aims.

Responsibilities and duties include:

  • Plan and manage change in accordance with the school development/strategic plan
  • Submit a proposed budget to the Head Teacher and Governors for approval and assist the overall financial planning process
  • Present timely and fully costed proposals, recommendations or bids
  • Complete necessary financial returns
  • Manage the whole school administrative function and lead all support staff
  • Establish and use effective methods to review and improve administrative systems
  • Consider approaches for existing use and future plans to introduce or discard technology in school
  • Establish systems to monitor and report on the performance of technology within the school
  • Support the management of payroll and subsequent pension schemes
  • Manage recruitment, performance management, appraisal and development for all support staff
  • Manage staff attendance returns and subsequent staff absence and attendance policies
  • Ensure the supervision of relevant planning and construction processes is undertaken in line with contractual obligations
  • Ensure the safe maintenance and security operation of all school premises
  • Monitor, assess and review contractual obligations for outsources school services
  • Act as the school's Health and Safety Coordinator and Fire Officer
  • Ensure the Health and Safety policy is implemented at all times, put into practice and is subject to review and assessment at regular intervals or as situations change
  • Ensure the maximum level of security consistent with the ethos of the school

The successful candidate for this role will already possess the following:

  • A recognised management/business degree or equivalent related professional qualification
  • Experience of Managing strategic financial plans
  • Experience of Managing budgets, financial reporting, procurement and fixed assets
  • Experience of developing effective administrative systems and procedures
  • Management experience within an educational environment
  • The ability to lead teams and individuals
  • Experience in working with various ICT packages
  • A good working Knowledge of financial standards, and financial procedures and regulations in schools
  • Commitment to the development of the school
  • The ability to be flexible and able to respond to the unexpected in a calm and reassuring manner
