We’re looking for a personable individual with extensive client/customer service experience to join us as an Information & Resource Officer and help and support people to get the information they need on social welfare issues.

The Building Better Opportunities Motiv8 project is a new initiative aimed at supporting unemployed or economically inactive people in Greater Manchester who are not engaged with mainstream services. The project aims to significantly improve lives by reducing health inequalities and overcoming barriers to accessing universal and targeted services. 

This post is funded through the Athena Partnership’s (Big Lottery Funded) Motiv8 Project, to support economically inactive people across Greater Manchester to move closer to the labour market.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Provide help and support to clients seeking information on social welfare law issues including Housing, Debt and Welfare Benefit issues
  • Identifying clients’ situations and referring them on when appropriate
  • Maintaining and developing a suite of resources to aid client self-help
  • Working alongside a small team of volunteers who will provide assistance
  • Assisting with marketing and promotion, including updating our websites.
     

And what you’ll need:

  • A customer service background and a commitment to providing a prompt, efficient service
  • An interest in, or experience of, social welfare law including housing and homelessness
  • Experience of providing support that enables individuals to find relevant information
  • Strong IT skills, including experience of case management systems.
