DEPUTY HEAD OF PROCUREMENT

Do you like a challenge where no two days are exactly the same? We are looking for a Deputy Head of Procurement who will support a range of contracts. This could range from software, hardware, stationery, photocopiers, to medical and sports equipment as well as a range of professional and FM services.
You will be responsible for leading a small team and liaising with Faculties & Services within the University, identifying opportunities and ensuring our customers comply with best practice purchasing guidelines and where applicable EU procurement regulations
You will ensure that the full benefits of contracts and agreements are realised and explore new opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies in order to achieve savings targets, at the same time ensuring that the University's legal obligations and funding conditions are met. You will be confident in speaking with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels, and capable of working independently, as well as being part of a close knit team.
Specific category experience is not important, although proven experience of running the end to end procurement processes is important. You will be responsible for coordinating and managing tender processes; interfacing with internal customers; managing contractual risk, recording savings and liaising with the supplier base.
To be considered for this role, you must have previous experience of running tenders, negotiating with suppliers; have excellent analytical skills and the ability to build relationships.
CIPS qualified, or studying for CIPS and excellent IT skills (Word, Excel) and experience of EU procurement is desirable.
