Main responsibilities include:
Perform testing operations within the mechanical test and metallurgy laboratory
Ensuring that test equipment is used in accordance with documented procedures
Perform general duties in accordance with Exova internal procedures, quality system and health and safety system
Assist in booking in jobs in goods received area when required
Demonstrate testing to visitors, inspectors and auditors
Perform site testing when required
Contribute to the improvement in the organisation and efficiency of the workplace by implementing and maintaining agreed 5S actions
Preparing samples for micro and macroscopic examination, including hot and cold mounting
Mixing etchant reagents to the correct strength with due regard to health & safety
Taking photographs using a digital camera and processing them using proprietary software
Keeping the laboratory/test room clean and tidy including maintaining the micro/macro storage system
Monitor the availability of laboratory consumables and order new consumables
General duties may involve assisting in areas of testing outside of their routine operation
Carry out other duties as reasonably requested
What are we looking for in a candidate?
A theoretical understanding of materials and materials testing
An awareness of health & safety systems and environmental regulations
A basic knowledge of relevant testing standards
Excellent communications skills with the ability to work well alone and within a team environment
A hardworking and driven professional
Full, clean driving licence
