JOB TITLE: Technical Manager
SALARY & BENEFITS: Up to GBP45,000 per annum depending on experience, plus free on-site parking, company car, healthcare, performance bonus and company share scheme. The role will also provide exciting opportunities for overseas travel.
WORKING HOURS: Full time,Monday to Friday
THE COMPANY: Our client, based in Telford, Shropshire is the world leader in the design and supply of hard faced reinforced soil structures. They design, supply and advise on the installation of two major types of prefabricated construction systems; Reinforced Earth retaining structures and precast concrete arch systems. They are currently seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Engineer to work as a Technical Manager, leading a team of Engineers and Technicians in the design of Reinforced Earth and Arch structures.
THE ROLE: This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a globally successful organisation, based in Telford, Shropshire. Working as the Technical Manager you will report to the General Manager and will be responsible for managing the design team and producing design solutions for projects in accordance with client's requirements and the appropriate technical standards.
Key responsibilities of the Technical Manager to include:
THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate will be a chartered or near chartered civil or structural engineer who has a good understanding of structural analysis and design. Experience in the use of Eurocodes for the design of reinforced concrete structures is required. You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills to enable you to work closely with both contractors and consultants.
Familiarity with the requirements for technical approval of highway and railway structures and an interest in geotechnical design including foundation design and slope stability analysis would also be beneficial.

- Agree project design programmes and deliverables with Operations Manager
- Plan and organise design resources to meet design delivery programme
- Ensure that the required information is available to enable designs to be completed and request outstanding design information from Client
- Ensure that designs that are produced that are efficient to manufacture
- Advise Operations Manager of design progress and any changes to design programme
- Act as project designer
- Ensure that designs are produced in accordance with company procedures and fulfil the company's health and safety obligations correctly
- Check that completed designs are in accordance with project cost assumptions
- Arrange for designs to be approved to construction status with Client
- Issue schedule of materials requirements and specification to Operations Manager for materials ordering
- Issue approved drawings to Operations Manager
- Ensure incoming and outgoing design information is correctly managed
- Maintain company technical software.
