Due to high demand a position has arisen for an experienced Commercial Account Handler to join a well-established independent insurance brokerage. Based in Watford, Hertfordshire, the successful candidate will earn a salary of £22,000-£30,000 per annum depending on experience.

The successful candidate will be involved in delivering excellent service to existing clients and supporting sales activity to win new, mainly commercial clients. Your main duties and responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Assisting sales effort regarding client/prospect needs analysis, competitor analysis, pitch preparation
  • Providing new business quotations for many classes of commercial insurance, providing relevant advice, information and guidance
  • Taking instructions from new and existing clients, ensuring cover commences at the correct time, all relevant paperwork is completed, premium is collected and relevant records and diary entries created
  • Offer renewal of existing clients’ policies with existing insurer or move to new insurer as appropriate
  • Assisting with personal line clients as required
  • Checking thoroughly all client documentation before despatch, ensuring queries are raised and amendments completed
  • Daily controlling and updating your own diary system
  • Assisting customers with enquiries relating to claims, either by direct involvement with the insurer concerned if appropriate.
  • Assisting with claims administration where necessary
  • Providing back up to the team performing the daily and operational routines of the company’s computer system
  • Any general duties that may be required by your Manager in accordance with the nature of this job.
 
To be considered for the Commercial Account Handler role you must have commercial account handling experience. In addition, you must possess the following skills and experience:
 
  • Cert CII or above qualifications is highly desirable but not essential
  • Knowledge of Insurance principles as they apply to General Insurance particularly in relation to insurable interest, utmost good faith, indemnity, contribution, average and subrogation
  • A range of commercial insurance products
  • Good knowledge of MS Office packages
  • Knowledge of Open GI system in preferred but not essential
  • An aptitude for sales and placing new business is highly desired
