Job Role:

To manage all operators within the department. To ensure the smooth running of the production process. To ensure that all products are produced to the Quality specification. Targets and deadlines are met to achieve the customer schedules. To ensure that all operators comply with the company's Health & Safety procedures in line with the company handbook.

• This role is to be carried out in conjunction with processing parts within the department.
• Ensure that at all times employees work in a safe manner.
• To ensure all products are manufactured to the highest quality standards ensuring they are checked for conformance with the departments SPI's before the move to the next department.
• Ensure all Health & Safety rules and regulations are adhered to
• Confirm that SPI's are being used at all times and that all team members follow the procedure.
• To check operator bookings on a daily basis to ensure production rates are being met, arrange training and coaching for operators who do not meet the required production rates and escalating to supervisor when necessary.
• Ensure all overtime and shift working is fully justified and approved before allocating to staff.
• Provide cover for other production areas during holidays and absenteeism.
• Ensure stock/WIP records including scrap recording are correctly maintained.
• Ensuring all new starters have an extensive training plan and are buddied up with a grade three trained operative.
• Work with the supervisor to ensure all team members are trained in a minimum of 2 different processes within the business within 18 months of them starting and performing annual training refreshers
• Monitor time keeping and absence through return to work meetings and the following attendance policy, requesting the support of HR at the required level.
• Work with the HR department to carry out investigations and disciplinary that may be required.
• To be committed to the Group-wide ethics and compliance programme, RBP; ensuring a common approach to doing business the right way and adhering at all times to the core elements of the programme - values, policies/guidance, training/education and compliance risk assessment.

The Candidate:

Desirable Qualifications

• ILM Level 3 in Team Leading
• IOSH Working Safely
• GCSE/O Level qualifications in grade C or above

Previous Experience

• Experience working in a manufacturing environment desired
• Have previous experience in managing a team
• Experience of making decisions in a timely manner
• Experience in Excel and reporting data.
