JOB TITLE: Head of Finance

SALARY: £30,797 per annum

BENEFITS: 25 days annual leave on entry (previous HM Armed Forces service and previous service in the Public Sector may attract additional entitlement) plus public holidays, pension scheme and annual bonus scheme.

WORKING HOURS: Permanent, full time, Monday to Friday

THE COMPANY: Our client based in Aldershot, Hampshire are an organisation that provide vital support to volunteer Reserves and Cadets around the UK through 13 autonomous Associations. These have some 8,000 volunteer members supported by professional staff allowing a local defence footprint. They provide both financial and logistic support as well as assistance and encouragement in recruiting both Cadets and Adult Instructors within the Army Cadet Force. They are currently looking for a Head of Finance to lead their Finance team based in Aldershot, Hampshire.

THE ROLE: Based in Aldershot, Hampshire, your role as the Head of Finance will be to oversee the production of the monthly management accounts, forecasts and the annual budget. You will also supervise two members of the Finance Team.

Key Responsibilities of the Head of Finance to include:-

• Management of the Finance team

• Preparation and review of the monthly management accounts and month end reconciliations

• Preparation, management and review of annual budgets and forecasts

• Management of both internal audit and presentation of annual accounts for external audit

• Managing bills and invoicing

• Completion of payroll activities, including PAYE and NI

THE CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate for the Head of Finance position will have sound accounting and budgeting knowledge, with at least 2 years previous experience. Previous experience of operating public funds and knowledge of the Armed Forces would be beneficial but is not essential; an interest in business development is desirable. Applicants must be capable of working in a small team and display a flexible approach.

Essential skills for the Head of Finance role:

• A minimum of 2 years previous experience

• Managing bills and invoicing

• Payroll activities including PAYE and NI

• Spreadsheet management and the use of Microsoft based IT systems

• Internal and external account audits

• Budget management
