LOCATION: Stornoway, Isle of Lewis
JOB TITLE: Production Manager
SALARY & BENEFITS: Competitive salary dependent on experience
WORKING HOURS: Full Time - Monday to Friday with occasional overtime
THE COMPANY: Our client is the largest wild shellfish processor in Europe. A market leader in their field, they process Crabs, Whelks, Wild Scallops and Langoustines. They regularly work with fisherman daily around the UK to ensure quality of their produce is never compromised. They only fish where the healthy, harvestable populations are and buy from fisherman quayside to guarantee the freshest of catch bringing the produce all the way from 'sea to kitchen'.
THE ROLE: Due to continued company growth our client now have an Immediate requirement for a versatile, self motivated experienced individual to work within their Production Team based in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. The ideal candidate should be able to take on a hands on role to fully support the General Manager and as Production Manager you will be directly responsible for all aspects of seafood production.
Key Responsibilities for the Production Manager's position in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis include:
- Lead, manage and motivate employees in the achievement of manufacturing objectives pertaining to yield performance, product quality, production efficiency, and both food and workplace safety.
- Responsible for all aspects of seafood production including directly overseeing line operating staff in the areas of training, employee development, performance and succession management, retention, and engagement
- Contributing to an operational excellence business model focused on profitability and growth, as well as working effectively with other members of the Macduff management team to identify annual, quarterly, and monthly objectives in support of the Company tactical and strategic plans
- Achieve operational targets and budgets, including product yields, labour usage, and related costs and productivity with daily reporting for the above
THE CANDIDATE: The successful candidate for the Production Manager's position must have previous experience leading and managing a team of staff in a production or manufacturing environment. Understanding of manufacturing financial controls, particularly yield and labour optimisation is essential. Experience in seafood or fisheries industry although not essential would be an advantage. You should be a natural leader who can effectively manage a team and ensure targets are met and must be prepared to work occasional overtime.
Key Experience/ Characteristics preferred for the Production Manager's role in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis:-
- Must have previous experience leading and managing a team of staff in a production or manufacturing environment
- Understanding of manufacturing financial controls, particularly yield and labour optimisation is essential
- Must be able to commute to Stornoway, Isle of Lewis
- Flexibility and being prepared to work occasional overtime is essential
