The Client:
Our client is a leading Fit Out and Refurbishment company, operating from Birmingham up to the Scottish Highlands. Their portfolio of blue chip clients has expanded significantly in recent years, resulting in this outstanding opportunity for an Estimator / Building Surveyor to join their growing management team in Northern England.
The Role:
Reporting to the Head of Projects, you will be responsible for supporting the acquisition and delivery of profitable Fit Out & Refurbishment Projects across a wide ranging customer base, primarily encompassing the FM, Retail & Hotel sectors. Based in their regional office near Warrington, you will work alongside the Project Coordinator to ensure all opportunities are carefully managed to maximise the chances success on every bid.
The role is very customer focussed, and the successful candidate will deal with clients at various levels, ranging from Site Managers to Project Directors. Average Project values are around £10-£20k, but can be as high as £600k.
Duties will include:
- Assessment of tender documents and drawings
- Surveying projects during the bid phase to gain a detailed understanding of the client’s requirements
- Management of suppliers and sub-contractors, including preparation of specifications, issuing tenders, assessment of submissions and selection Pricing of Bill of Quantities
- Submitting tenders
- Post tender negotiations
- Post contract award liaison with clients, sub-contractors and in-house Project Manager
- Issuing of contracts to suppliers and sub-contractors
- Management of client and sub-contractor valuations
- Final accounts
As well as your day to day activities, you will also play a senior role in the Management Team. The Candidate:
Given the importance of the position to the future goals of the business, our client is looking for an established professional to fill this role.
As the ideal candidate, you will possess:
- At least 3 years’ experience as an Estimator, Building Surveyor or QS
- Industry related degree level qualification
- Proficiency in pricing works using the NSR (highly desirable but not essential)
- Sound technical knowledge across a wide range of disciplines relating to the building envelope
- A background in dealing with clients at various levels, ranging from Site Managers to senior Directors
- Good IT skills, particularly in Excel
- Excellent attention to detail
- A proactive approach to problem solving
- A passion for delivering great service to your clients. You will be organised, motivated and able to work autonomously
