Hafan Cymru has a unique opportunity available for a Bid Writer to join the team in Carmarthen. The role is a full time, permanent position working 37 hours per week. We are offering a salary of £25,000.00 per annum.
Hafan Cymru is a charitable housing association that provides housing and support to men, women, their children and young people across Wales. We primarily work with those escaping domestic abuse, helping them regain their independence. Therefore, we are committed and passionate about saving lives.
Working as part of a team the Bid Writer will have primary responsibility for writing high quality submissions that support business retention and growth. Key tasks include taking responsibility for the full end- to - end process of searching, building, writing, and submitting PQQs, ITTs, and other proposals as required. The post holder will embody Hafan Cymru’s values and model appropriate behaviours at all times and in all areas of responsibility.
What are the responsibilities of the Bid Writer?
- Evaluate opportunities to inform and influence the bid strategy
- Work with the Head of Business Development and operational colleagues to effectively lead the production process of submissions
- Using Hafan Cymru’s Business Development Framework, ensure opportunities are fully evaluated, with areas of strength and weakness identified as well as risk and cost implications identified and mitigated
- Co-ordinate the responses of individuals responsible for contributing parts of the tendering process
- Produce high quality, detailed, well-structured responses to submissions
- Develop appropriate materials and statements which are reflective of business requirements, ensuring they are accurate and up to date
- Lead project teams through Hafan Cymru’s business development framework ensuring compliance with any financial and legal obligations
- Take responsibility for your own development, incorporating technical and operational knowledge and skills Key Points
- Assist the Head of Business Development and operational teams to review documents and submissions, recommending amendments to improve quality
- Establish and maintain a strong reputation for quality and efficiency
- Act as a quality control check on tender submissions, including reviewing and editing text produced by others
- Take responsibility for any complaints, errors or critical issues, ensuring accurate and prompt reporting to the Head of Business Development
- Work with colleagues to establish best practice processes to achieve growth
- Evaluate and filter opportunities to ensure alignment with strategic plans
- Contribute to the development of systems for tenders and templates
- Assist the Head of Business Development and Senior Management Team to undertake regular reviews of submissions to help inform future actions
- Provide the Head of Business Development with accurate and timely reports on activity
- Develop technical expertise and best practice in assigned areas
- Commit to a continuous improvement culture and be prepared to undertake other duties and responsibilities relevant to the nature, level and extent of the post
- Ensure CPD by attending external training days and workshops in relation to regulatory compliance and quality
Our ideal Bid Writer will have the following skills & experience:
- Educated to degree level relevant to the post
- Experience of production of successful tenders, preferably in Housing, Health or Social Care
- Experience of providing data and report information
- Experience web technologies and systems
- Experience of Sell to Wales; Alito; Bravo Solutions
- An understanding of the market in which Hafan Cymru operates
- Understanding of the funding of Housing, Health or Social Care, preferably in Wales
- Excellent written communication skills
- Excellent project management skills
- Ability to assimilate large volumes of information quickly and accurately
- Organised and with a keen eye for detail, accuracy and quality
- Excellent proof reading skills
- Ability to implement effective tendering processes and systems
- Proven evaluation skills and the ability to produce reports
- Ability to prepare and deliver presentations
- Able and willing to travel with occasional overnight stays
- Understanding of equality issues and anti-discriminatory practice
