Service Manager

Refusing to ignore people in crisis

Being a service manager at the British Red Cross is a great opportunity to use your managerial and customer service skills to make a real difference.  As a key member of the mobility aids service, your service management work will play a vital part in helping people to live more independently after a crisis. We are reshaping the way we deliver our services in the UK, so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Red Cross’ mobility aids service supports people who need short-term loans of wheelchairs and other equipment to remain living independently. As service manager, you will have overall responsibility for the contracted services that you manage. You will ensure that all services and activities are provided in an efficient, effective and controlled environment, recognising the corporate strategy and also current policies. You will work closely with the relevant management in developing the service across the areas. You will be required to actively build contacts and good working relationships with other local Red Cross staff as needed and report to contract funders on a regular basis.

The role is based in Newport, but with no specific office base and is flexible and home working can be considered.

The successful candidate will need a good working knowledge of IT, the ability to build and maintain positive partnerships, write reports, and have a knowledge and understanding of adult services and NHS commissioning bodies.

If you can effectively manage and lead a team and want to join during an exciting period of change, which will reshape the way we deliver our services in the UK, we would be delighted to hear from you.

In return we can offer a variety of benefits, such as:

  • 36 days' annual leave (incl bank holidays) (pro rata for part-time staff)
  • Up to 6% contributory pension
  • Childcare vouchers

Closing date: Sunday 25 September 2016.

First Interviews: TBC.
