Knellwood is a large residential and nursing care home for the elderly, operating as a non-profit making charity. We wish to recruit a practical, enthusiastic individual for a varied role; comprising general maintenance tasks around the home and grounds, including repairs & renewals, decorating & woodwork, basic plumbing & electrics, routine fire alarm & equipment checks, storage of kitchen / other supplies of consumables, together with making local collections.

The role will suit a self-motivated, adaptable individual who can show initiative in the role, be able to work without supervision and able to meet deadlines. The successful individual will be empathetic with the elderly and a good team player. There will be occasions when overtime is necessary therefore a flexible approach is required.

The successful applicant must have a full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle (for which mileage allowance will be payable). This position will require an Enhanced DBS check and the successful applicant will be required to attend a fitness medical before the commencement of work, as the employment involves manual work, including lifting.

The employment will be for 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 5.00pm with one hour unpaid lunch break. The rate of pay is negotiable, dependent on qualifications and experience, plus mileage allowance and paid overtime as necessary.
