Our client was founded in 1989 and is a medium sized family business with roots in the OOH advertising business. Initially our client started building, selling, installing and maintaining three sided displays and have remained at the forefront of the evolving OOH industry ever since. Pushing innovation from the early days of the Trilateral signs, to Scrollers & huge Lightbox’s and more recently our client has moved to DOOH (digital out of home) displays, which launched in 2005. With DOOH being the fastest growing sector, our client continues to be one of the main facilitators for the OOH advertising industry.
Right now our client is looking for an energetic and efficient person to take on the role of an H&S Advisor.
Key Responsibilities and accountabilities:
- Carry out weekly operative huddles to act as point of contact for any questions or concerns which then need to be raised with the H&S Manager.
- carrying out risk assessments and method statements and considering how risks could be reduced;
- carrying out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented;
- Communicate policies and procedures, keep workforce updated on any changes or new policies and procedures;
- Carrying out toolbox talks and other safety briefings as requested by the Health and Safety Manager
- keeping records of inspection findings and producing reports that suggest improvements;
- recording of incidents and accidents and producing statistics for managers;
- being up to date with new legislation and maintaining a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry;
- Assist where required with the production of safety bulletins, company monthly SHE newsletters/report
- Ensuring all equipment and other work items are maintained and records up to date
- Advising operatives and team leaders on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases;
- Attend SHE monthly meetings and raise and observations, recommendations or challenges being face on site and within the yard;
- Maintain and develop COSHH risk assessments and SOP’s to ensure compliant at all times with legislation;
- Assist the Junior/Health and Safety Administrator with maintaining training up to date for all employees and make recommendations to the Health and Safety Manager of training that could be of benefit from observations on site;
As required:
- Point of contact for Health and Safety Support in the absence of the H&S Manager, i.e. holiday cover etc.
- Attend trade events to aid with company networking etc.
- Communicate any updated policies or procedures etc. with operatives as and when required in the form of tool box talk etc.
Qualifications:
- IOSH Managing Safely
- NEBOSH General Certificate
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate (desirable)
