Chichester College have an opportunity for an Assistant Principal Examiner (Anglia Examinations) to join the team at our Chichester Campus on a part time, permanent basis working 30 hours per week. The successful Assistant Principal Examiner (Anglia Examinations) will receive a salary pro rata of £25,000 per annum (i.e. £20,270.27).

Anglia Examinations Syndicate Limited is an international English examination organisation, with franchisees in 42 countries. The company is owned by Chichester College and Anglia Examinations HQ has been based in Chichester, England, since 1993.

 

Responsibilities of our Assistant Principal Examiner (Anglia Examinations)​:

- To provide a quality check on all examination material for academic content, accuracy and relevance against the syllabus.

- To write at least 20% of core papers and contribute to the writing of other bespoke and special papers when required.

- To ensure that the examinations cover the published syllabus.

- To advise the Academic Director on changes and updates needed on the published syllabuses associated with the examinations, test specifications and teachers’ handbook.

- To monitor the standardisation of papers and arrange pre-testing where appropriate.

- To edit papers submitted by consultants to eliminate errors and check for any omissions or culturally sensitive items.

- To ensure that the mark schemes are comprehensive and accurate.

- To provide ongoing monitoring and analysis of papers to ensure that standards are maintained from one examination to another.

- To assist in identifying suitable writers.

- To initiate and assist in product development.

- To contribute to the review of the performance of candidates at the examinations and to advise, where appropriate, on ways to improve performance.

- To assist in training new writers and disseminating information to writers’ team as required.

- To participate in Anglia teacher training programmes and training of oral examiners.

- To assist in identifying and developing new markets.

- To contribute to the provision of documentation validating the mapping of the examinations to the six levels of the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference).

- To contribute to the preparation of publicity material.

- To review, with the Academic Director, the form and content of the examinations to ensure relevance to potential market.

Skills & Experience required of our Assistant Principal Examiner (Anglia Examinations):

- Level 4 qualification

- CELTA or other qualification in teaching EFL

- Level 3 qualification in English

- Level 2 qualification in Numeracy

- Exam writing or marking for a recognised exam board

- Teaching EFL

- Proof reading or editorial experience

- Awareness of the function and operations of an examination board in testing English as a Foreign Language
