SALARY & BENEFITS: GBPSalary Negotiable dependant on experience
WORKING HOURS: Full time (Mon-Fri 9-4)
THE COMPANY: Our client is the UK's leading charity supporting disabled people. For over 65 years they have supported disabled people in many different ways, to reflect their needs including providing care in people's own homes, through to employment and education.
THE ROLE: General Maintenance person -Halifax, West Yorkshire
The General Maintenance person will be responsible for ensuring the smooth/efficient maintenance and safety of the service, based in Halifax, West Yorkshire, for the benefit of service users. Ensure the safety of the service and all equipment through regular checks and servicing
Key Responsibilities to include:- General Maintenance person -Halifax, West Yorkshire
Key Experience preferred for the role:-General Maintenance person -Halifax, West Yorkshire
- Previous or relevant experience in a Maintenance role (plumbing, carpentry, electrical).
- To have an appropriate NVQ (or other relevant qualification) in at least one key area(plumbing, carpentry, electrical).
- Understanding the principles of workplace safety (including hazard compliance)
- Good literacy and numeracy
- To be willing to undertake required training (including updates), sometimes off site and outside normal working hours.
- Experience of working with disabled people is desirable
- An engaging manner with ability to build rapport with people.
- Passion, enthusiasm and a real commitment to make a difference to people lives
- A reliable approach to work
- Car and own vehicle highly desirable but not essential

- Carry out general maintenance on the buildings, equipment and surrounding grounds to the required standard.
- Manage time effectively, to maintain the provision of service to service users and meet the required standards of health and safety, prioritising workload accordingly
- Plan a proactive maintenance schedule for agreement by Service manager, heeding any risk assessment requirements
- Carry out any scheduled fire alarm test(s) in conjunction with the line manager, maintaining records of these.
- Carry out decoration of the premises
- Report any repairs or maintenance work to be done by outside contractors
- To undertake additional responsibilities as requested by the Service Manager following the successful completion of specific training and personal skills development.
