Due to expansion, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estimator/Surveyor to join a well-respected and progressive construction company specialising in refurbishment, new build, fit-out and minor works construction projects. Based in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire the successful Estimator/Surveyor will earn £35,000 - £45,000 dependent upon experience.
As an Estimator/Surveyor you will be responsible for adhering to Company Health & Safety standards and following administrative procedures. Reporting to the Directors, the role of the Estimator/Surveyor will involve but is not limited to the following:

As an Estimator/Surveyor you will be responsible for adhering to Company Health & Safety standards and following administrative procedures. Reporting to the Directors, the role of the Estimator/Surveyor will involve but is not limited to the following:
- Undertaking labour and material ‘take-offs’ from drawings
- Applying charge out rates and appropriate mark ups
- Liaising with clients at pre contract stage and carrying out successful handover to nominated Contracts Manager
- Verifying sub-contractor quotations and compiling final tender
- Utilising estimating software to assist with subsequent project management and performance monitoring
- Working alongside Directors and contracts team to develop the estimating function and other internal systems
- Assisting the Directors with business development by targeting key clients, making contacts and following initial enquiries through to the receipt of tender enquiries
- Working closely with the Directors to identify key issues, forecast costs and implement robust administrative systems
- Visiting sites to conduct tender and pre-contract surveys as necessary
- Compiling detailed estimates and quotations from plan or bills of quantities, follow through to acceptance by the client and handover to the contracts team
- Working to strict deadlines during the bid preparation phase, prepare a tender plan and manage the process through to completion
The successful Estimator/Surveyor will have worked previously in a comparable role and have experience of construction estimating, tendering and estimating software packages. In addition, you will possess the following skills and experience:
- Current or previous experience as an Estimator/Surveyor within a Construction environment (Essential)
- Relevant construction industry qualifications (Desirable)
- A full and clean valid driving licence (Essential)
- Comprehensive knowledge of construction methods with the ability to; Analyse tender documents, identify risk and conduct detailed site surveys
- An understanding of different building solutions, with the aptitude to read and work with engineers and architect drawings
- Working knowledge of MS Office, in particular Excel
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and lead a team
- Good attention to detail with strong analytical skills
- Excellent time management and organisation skills
- Proactive and adaptable
- Confident and professional
