Lead Developer - Digital Communications Team
Reference number: 1505425
Salary: £29,358 - £33,076
Location: Worthing, South East
Drive the development of a portfolio of digital services at a time of exciting transformation, and make a real difference for Britain.
Here at HMRC we collect the money that pays for public services, and help individuals with targeted financial support. Our work touches the lives of nearly every citizen in this country.
Across our Digital Communications services, we are introducing exciting new features and functionality. On an open source platform, our work ranges from designing and delivering websites, to designing and developing bespoke Drupal modules for our internal customers, to managing services including enterprise search. You’ll be at the heart of our evolution.
Your role
You’ll be responsible for planning and coordinating the delivery and assurance of digital solutions and websites. Managing a team of developers delivering digital products, you’ll drive continuous improvements in systems and processes, to increase their efficiency. You’ll support the ongoing development of our intranet, internet, social media and digital channels. This will range from managing and monitoring technical risks, through to translating business needs into digital solutions and quality assuring projects. As an ambassador for digital communications, you’ll work closely with diverse stakeholders and deputise for our Head of Web and Development Manager.
Your credentials
Ideally, you’ll bring a host of relevant skills and experience to the role - crucially, you will be passionate about digital and keen to continue learning. Experience of designing, developing and delivering digital products in a user-centred environment will be a definite advantage, as will an understanding of structured project management using cloud and open source technologies. We would prefer you to demonstrate knowledge of technologies such as Drupal, Apache, Solr, Memcache, Varnish, MySQL, ELK and MongoDB, and to have experience of web development using HTML, Ajax, PHP, CSS, JavaScript and JSON. Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach will be keys to your success.
