SALARY & BENEFITS: From GBP28K per annum - - Dependent on skills and experience. Flexibility is available for the right candidate.

WORKING HOURS: 36 hours per week - Permanent



THE COMPANY: Our client was set up to run, develop and manage a primary school in the North London area and since doing this have acquired a further 4 academies. They were approached by parents and carers many times over the years with the request to open a local secondary school so that their children can continue their excellent primary education in the local area. In July 2012 the government announced that they had been successful in its bid to open a new secondary academy.



THE ROLE: A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, who is highly motivated and embraces new challenges to support the Head of IT in the development of new strategies to ensure continuous provision of an outstanding IT Support and Service to the Trust.




As Senior IT Infrastructure Engineer you will be part of a new team created to provide high quality IT support and services to users. Your role will be to support the Head of IT developing new strategies to improve the experience for all their end users. Ongoing you will provide exceptional third, second and first line support to staff and students, assist in maintaining web and content platforms and oversee ad hoc key projects. You will also maintain, support and undertake troubleshooting and diagnostics on network infrastructure, including servers and switches, routers, network cabling and wireless infrastructure as well as support and trouble shoot issues with both physical and virtual Windows servers.



Key Responsibilities:-

  • Contributing to strategy development regarding IT provision by Head of IT and implementation across the Trust
  • Assisting the Head of IT in the planning of appropriate IT capacity to match current and future business needs
  • Under the direction of Head of IT, implementing and managing the major developments of IT provision aligning to Trust's quality improvement strategies
  • Implementing the annual work plan and procuring additional resources as required by the Head of IT
  • Provide first, second and third line fault finding, diagnostic and repair services to support IT users.
  • To liaise with third party contacts, arrange warranty repairs, and perform diagnostics.
  • Delivery of reactive on site visits where remote remediation is no longer possible or time critical
  • To contribute to raising standards of achievement and maximising student attainment with particular regard to IT provision and usage across the Trust.
  • To take part in the Trust's staff development programme by participating in arrangements for further training and professional development

THE CANDIDATE: You must possess recognised IT and Microsoft qualifications as well as a detailed technical understanding of the IT requirements of a modern business. You will have experience of providing support to Windows Operating Systems, specifically Windows 7/10 desktops, Server 2008/r2 and Server 2012/r2 as well as Server 2008/r2/2012/r2 Administration and support. You will have been involved in Server Administration and have knowledge of Cisco VPN, Image Deployment and VMWare VSphere, Hyper-V and Citrix. You must also have experience of automating processes using scripting (Powershell/VBScript/Batch files) and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) and Microsoft IIS.



Key essential experience:-

  • Degree in Information Communication Technology, BTEC/HND or other relevant Higher Education Qualification or qualified by experience
  • Microsoft Qualifications MCIPT, MCP / CCNA / VCP or other relevant IT qualification
  • Experience with providing support to Windows Operating Systems, specifically Windows 7/10 desktops, Server 2008/r2 and Server 2012/r2
  • Experience of Server Administration: Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Print Management
  • Ability to deal sensitively with people and resolve conflicts effectively
  • Excellent planning, organisational, diagnostic and analytical skills


Desirable criteria
  • Experience of PS Financials, SQL Server, SIMS (Management Information System) / SLG, Sharepoint Administration, Cashless Catering
  • Experience of Office 365/Azure Administration
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the benefits of technology in education
  • Ability to act as a mentor and coach to junior members of the IT team.
