Assessor – Carpentry and Joinery (Trainer, Teacher, Tutor) BLUA40608

Bristol

Salary; £24,000 – £27,000

Our client is one of the largest further and higher education colleges in the UK. With more than 1,000 courses available from entry to degree level, they offer the widest range of academic and vocational qualifications you will find in the South West.

They cater for learners of all ages and backgrounds, including 16 to 18-year-olds, adult learners, apprentices, higher education students and international students. Based in four main centres across Bristol, they offer a learning experience that puts their students right at the heart of one of the best cities in the UK.

They are now looking for an Assessor in Carpentry and Joinery to join them to support and assess learners working towards apprentice/NVQ/FCR programmes.

In the role you will be responsible for delivering high quality training and assessment and for providing professional advice to our work based learners in Carpentry and Joinery in order to ensure that their individual needs are met. Regularly visiting a caseload of learners and reviewing their progress, you will create a learning environment in which students feel comfortable, managing attendance, retention and achievement and setting long term goals.

Building and maintaining relationships with employers, parents and colleagues, you will actively market and promote the college provision and positively seek out benchmarks and other measures of success, actively working towards and, if possible, exceeding individual achievement objectives and success measures.

Educated to a minimum of Level 3 or equivalent in Carpentry and Joinery and with GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above, you will have previous industry experience and a proactive approach to teaching, learning and assessment. With an A1, V1 or /TAQA award (or willing to work towards) and experience of working with young people in the workplace, the successful candidate will be passionate about Carpentry and Joinery and have an awareness of Health and Safety practices.

With excellent communication skills and the ability to input into individual development plans, you will have a flexible attitude to work and be willing to travel and teach at various college sites in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.

A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is essential.
