Shop Manager
£10,914 per annum (24 hours per week)
Location: Moseley, Birmingham (34 St. Mary’s Row, Moseley, Birmingham B13 8JG)
We have a network of high street shops that’s bigger than many of Britain’s retailers and a brand people trust. We’re known for being innovative. Look at Oxfam unwrapped or our ethical collection. And we’re competitive. We have to fight for business here so we can fund our fight against poverty and injustice around the world. Because that’s where every penny of our profit goes. And that’s why we’re a retailer with a real difference.
The role
Put simply, it’s about turning everything we sell in our shops into vital funds for years to come. And to achieve that, you’ll take responsibility for all aspects of the strategic and day-to-day operations of the business, from budgeting, merchandising and marketing, to the recruitment and training of staff and volunteers. It’s about making sure everything is geared up to generate as much cash as possible from our specially selected collections and the donations we receive. You’ll run the business your way. And we’ll expect you to turn it into a roaring success.
What we’re looking for
Excellent customer service skills are essential and chances are you’ll already be working as a retail manager. But whatever your background, we’ll expect you to have a commercial outlook and some previous experience of cash handling, together with excellent communication skills and a real ability to engage with people.
About Oxfam
A simple, inescapable truth underlines everything we do at Oxfam. There’s enough wealth in this world to go around. It’s not unfortunate that people live in poverty. It’s unjustifiable. And it’s not just their problem. It’s ours too. At Oxfam we believe that with the right support, we can beat poverty and injustice. Thousands of people already commit their time and talents to our campaigning, humanitarian and long-term development projects. Now we’re looking for yours.
