We’ve got a fantastic opportunity for a Group Product Development Manager to lead product development across our entire manufacturing division, including Meat, Chilled, Fish, Bakery and Produce.
This is a field based role (so you can be located anywhere in the UK), reporting to the Head of Central Operations and Development; you will coordinate all new and existing product development through a team of Site Product Development Managers, Developers and Technologists.
You will work closely with all key stakeholders, particularly within central trading, to maximise our vertically integrated supply chain.
Here at Morrisons our Group Product Development Manager does the following;
• Ensure all development briefs are channeled and governed through the manufacturing stage/gate process
• Lead, train and motivate your team and increase their skill set to drive performance and succession planning
• Champion the growth of manufacturing by facilitating the movement products from 3rd parties, in house.
• Through the Product Development Managers, support the site Technical teams to fulfill legislative standards and relevant accreditation.
• Work with the marketing and insight teams to keep up to date on emerging food / market trends and competitor activity translating into relevant NPD
• Collaborate with packaging, procurement, trading and central development to successfully launch products within the agreed intervention windows
What skills and qualifications do I need to be a successful Group Product Development Manager?
• Relevant food technology degree or equivalent
• Previous management experience gained in a fast paced food manufacturing environment in a product development capacity
• Ability to actively manage and motivate a cross functional team and allocate resources according to business priorities
• The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across teams
• The ability to have a good understanding of all Manufacturing processes, equipment and categories
• The ability to develop a strategy and translating this into operational business plans
• A strong reputation for taking a leading role in high profile product development projects and ‘hot spots’
• The ability to make challenging decisions to ensure maximum customer satisfaction
• Passionate about developing exciting products for our customers
