Sales Assistant - Part Time

A Sales Assistant is required to join Winchesters oldest independent shop, selling gifts and stationery since 1835. It has built its great reputation on the quality of its staff and the excellent service provided to its customer. They are looking for a customer focused sales assistant. This is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly and growing local company.

Duties:
- Operating the tills, including cashing up and completing paper work at the start and end of shift
- Assisting customers in selection and purchase of goods
- Ensuring the shop counter is always manned
- Processing cash and credit card transactions
- Managing the till, taking money from customers
- Keep merchandise neat and tidy
- Handling customer complaints in a professional manner
- Keeping the shop floor clean and tidy at all times
- Setting up displays
- Restocking the sales area
- Giving expert advice to customers regarding products

The successful applicant must have relevant experience in the retail sector and enjoy helping customers.

Desirable attributes:
- Excellent communications skills, with customers, suppliers and colleagues across all media
- Able to work as part of a team but capable of taking responsibility when required
- Adaptable to changes within the market place and company
- A friendly and enthusiastic outlook
- Computer literate. A knowledge of MS Office an advantage
- Well presented at all times

Hours 25-30 hours+ per week to be agreed including Weekend work

Salary: £14,000 - £16,000 pro rata

Benefits: Staff discount, Health Insurance (after qualifying period), 4 weeks holiday per annum plus an extra day for each year of service up to a maximum of 5.
