Control & Instrumentation Technician key responsibilities:
- Responsibility for carrying out planned and unplanned maintenance activities to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the Cardiff ERF plant
- Ensuring maintenance plans and targets are achieved safely, economically and within the environmental limits of the plant.
- Carrying out fault diagnosis and rectifying as required, along with managing calibration records and the implementation of instrument calibrations
- Ensuring that all reporting within the Computerised Maintenance Management System is effective and followed through to completion promptly.
- Fully conversant with instrument loop drawings and P&ID’s
- Be pro-active and creative in problem solving and initiative.
- Conduct plant inspections and area safety inspections.
- Broaden experience by covering the C&I Engineer’s duties if required.
- Ensure that all activities within the Cardiff EfW plant are carried out in a safe manner in line with the Cardiff’s procedures.
- Carry out risk assessments and method statements to ensure activities are completed in a safe manner at all times.
The ideal Control & Instrumentation Technician:
- Understanding of Environmental and H&S issues and their impacts, training will be given
- Experience in C&I engineering of process industry or power plant environment
- Experience of working with Computerised Maintenance Management systems
- To hold an appropriate technical qualification City & Guilds / NVQ (or equivalent), including a recognised trade specific apprenticeship
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely at all levels, both verbally and written
- Ability to work without supervision
- Able to think logically and solve problems effectively and efficiently
