Student Advisor, Ongoing Temp, GBP11.50ph, Greenford

We are looking for an experienced Student Advisor to join their team on a temporary basis. This is a great opportunity to work with dedicated professionals within the education sector to lead in the continuous development of their services to the student body, the faculty and prospective students.

Who will you be working for?

Our client is an independent School of Higher Education that offers career focused degree courses for UK and international students. The school has a smaller intake of students with a focused concentration on getting to know each of their students personally, placing them as one of the best independent educational institutions in the UK.

What does the role consist of?

You will be providing high quality administrative support. This will include:

* Provide a high quality information and initial guidance service for current students on a wide range of welfare topics (e.g. retention, progression, engagement and development)
* Identify student needs and address those needs according to urgency and priority
* Refer students to appropriate internal and external sources of support where appropriate
* Respond to all initial enquiries from students and staff
* Employ an excellent standard of customer care at all times, in order to deliver a professional, helpful, accessible and responsive service
* Support and guide students using a wide range of comprehensive self-help materials, in order to develop their knowledge and skills to be able to find and use the resources if a similar issue arises in future
* Provide an effective and skilled 'triage' response to students who may be at risk of themselves or others, or who may be agitated, distressed or anxious
* Liaise with frontline student support providers to facilitate smooth cross referral and an integrated student experience
* Record communications with students and stakeholders in the appropriate systems
* Ensure appropriate records and document checks are kept up-to-date in line with institutional policies.

What will the successful candidate be like?

* Demonstrable experience in working within a customer service role, where dealing with clients with limited English Language ability
* Well-developed written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to relay complex information to audiences and to deal sensitively with confidential information and demanding/distressed customers
* Demonstrated ability to be well planned and organised in a busy and rapidly changing working environment
* Excellent knowledge of computer packages, including competent use of Microsoft Office including MS Word, Excel and other database systems
* An interest in working in the Higher Education sector
