Key Accountabilities:
- Observes all company safety rules and regulations when performing work. Required to be knowledgeable of OSHA standards and other occupational hazards.
- Follow all lock out / tag out procedures
- Works from equipment specifications, drawings, sketches and verbal instructions.
- Ability to effectively manage time and meet all specified deadlines.
- Resolves equipment breakdowns to ensure production downtime is minimised. Uses problem solving techniques to quickly get to the root cause of problems and provides effective corrective actions
- Provides preventative maintenance cover for all production related equipment. Schedules appropriate maintenance for each piece of equipment and adheres to the schedules set. Maintains appropriate level of spare parts for each piece of equipment.
- Improve equipment reliability by increasing the mean time between failure (MTBF) while reducing the mean time to repair (MTTR).
- Disassembles mechanical devices such as resin screws, barrels, cylinders, valves, pumps, gearboxes to remove defective parts and make lasting repairs. Uses hoists, cranes, hand tools, power tools and occasionally fabricated fixtures. Reassembles mechanical devices and installs new parts.
- Sets up and operates drill press, grinders, welders, mills, lathes and other metal working tools to fabricate and repair parts.
- Operation of all types of material handling vehicles including fork trucks and scissor lifts.
- Perform assigned tasks to support objectives of team, department and company.
- Actively participate in Practical Process Improvement/5S/and other continuous improvement/lean projects.
- Responsible for ensuring that a clean, tidy and hazard free working environment is maintained to defined standards
- Ensure full and timely reporting of all major breakdowns, significant problems, repair requirements, delays or machine down time to relevant personnel.
- Maintain parts, usage and repair logs
- Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Flexibility and commitment to the role is a must
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Time served apprenticeship with a mechanical bias essential
- Mechanical Maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Must have extensive Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems troubleshooting and repair experience
- Must be able to do mechanical troubleshooting and repairs
- Knowledge of plastic molding equipment is desired
- Must have excellent communication skills, work in a team environment and the ability to train and provide guidance to others
- Experience working in a clean room environment would be preferred
- Licensed (or willing to gain license) to operate all types of material handling vehicles including fork trucks and scissor lifts.
Qualifications:
HNC/ONC or BTEC in mechanical engineering
