Group Director of Higher Education (Manager, HE, Leader) BLUG40357

Hull

Salary circa £65-£70k

Our client is one of the largest providers of further and higher education in the UK. Their mission is “Innovative and enterprising people, enabling excellent learning for employability and social fulfilment.” They aim to recruit people who are highly skilled and flexible and are committed to developing all of their employees to ensure that they are able to maximise their potential and make a positive contribution to the business goals.

They are now seeking to appoint a Group Director of Higher Education to lead the Group’s HE strategy.  Having secured Foundation Degree Awarding Powers and achieved an excellent recent Higher Education Review, this post represents an exceptional opportunity for a dynamic leader to join the Group’s strategic leadership team and lead the Group’s ambitious HE strategy to the next level.

With over 1200 HE students across its sites in Hull, Harrogate and Goole the Group’s HE offer comprises HNC/D Foundation Degrees, Honours Degrees, Masters and Higher Level Apprenticeships.

Ensuring high quality local, regional and national relationships with employers and community representatives, you will develop, foster and embed a culture for higher education which facilitates curriculum innovation and engagement in research. Leading on annual curriculum review with college principals and managers, you will secure a curriculum offer for HE which complements the curriculum offer for FE and ensures that there are genuine progression routes for FE students wishing to pursue higher level learning.

Qualified to first degree level or equivalent and with a higher degree and a successful track record of senior leadership in the FE/HE education sector, the successful candidate will be experienced in supporting the development of colleagues and peers and have evidence of ongoing commitment to research, scholarship and knowledge transfer. With effective budget and resource management experience and able to build and sustain effective and successful working relationships, you will have a sound track record in business development and be able to manage, develop, inspire and motivate staff to achieve challenging targets.

Able to demonstrate a passionate and visionary approach to teaching and learning and to lead by example in promoting the group’s vision, the successful candidates will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have the enthusiasm, vision, drive, adaptability and resilience to succeed.
