Industrial Data Analyst

IMERYS the world leader in mineral-based specialties for industry, is recruiting for the following position based in mid Cornwall:

Industrial Data Analyst (ref: 11764)

The purpose of the role is to extract, transform and upload useful information from many varied digital sources. 

The key tasks:

• Extract data from a range of sources in comma separated variable (csv), Excel, Access, SQL Server and Proprietary databases such as “Proficy Historian”.
• Transform the data using appropriate development tools.
• Upload the resultant data sets into data stores appropriate for the end users which may be Microsoft SQL Server, Access, Excel or other applications.
• Design appropriate storage for the data which may be local or server based databases.  Ensure that the designs of storage are scalable and structures are suitable for connection by reporting tools.
• Develop reports for the communication of industrial plant performance.
• Develop simple front end applications.
• Train end users in the use of the developed applications.

Applications are welcome from those who have:

• A degree in a numerate discipline or proven relevant experience gained in a business environment. 
• Formal qualification in Computing Studies and database design.
• Technical experience and knowledge of information systems (SQL Server, MS Access etc) and application development tools using the Microsoft DOT.NET suite of tools, in particular the VB and C# languages.
• Knowledge of industrial plant control systems (SCADA and Proficy Historian).
• Broad knowledge of query writing and reporting tools such as SQL Server Management Studio, Query Analyser and Crystal Reports etc.
• Analytical and problem solving skills.
• Strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and best practices.
