Crossrail C512 Whitechapel is a main station contract worth £110m, awarded as part of Crossrail, Europe's largest infrastructure scheme.
Connecting the City, Canary Wharf, the West End and Heathrow Airport to commuter areas east and west of London, Crossrail is a major new rail link project designed to provide a world-class, affordable railway.
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a MEP Design Manager to join our Design team to work in Whitechapel
What you'll be doing
As a MEP Design Manager you will be:
- Leading their specific element of permanent works design though the CRL Gate 3 Design Assurance process
- Provide specialist input to the JV's lead designer to ensure that a holistic approach is applied to the discrete elements of the MEP design to ensure a joined up integrated approach
- Lead & be responsible for all the MEP temporary works design requirements
- Lead & be responsible for all Earthing, Bonding Stray Current & Lightening Protection assurance requirements both in the temporary and permanent case
- Identify Value Engineering and efficiency opportunities relating to permanent works design

Who we're looking for
You will have:
- Proven experience as a Design Coordinator on similar size projects with LU/rail interface
- Detailed knowledge and experience of a wide range of contracts and sub-contracts (including NEC), and warranties.
- Knowledge of contract law.
- Experience of Lump Sum, and Target Cost contracts.
- Wide experience of successfully negotiating with clients.
- Experience in station construction, civils, building, fit out and MEP.
